Michel Corboz was born in Marsens, Switzerland and educated in his native canton of Fribourg. He founded the Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne, with which he has recorded and toured extensively. He also has an association with the Gulbenkien Chorus of Lisbon, Portugal and teaches at the Geneva Conservatory of Music. He has become known for his recordings of Baroque and Renaissance music, particularly Monteverdi. Michael Corboz is, without question, the greatest living choral conductor. For decades his old recordings have remained the touchstone by which modern versions of choral classics are measured.
